Jarek is a Krondir, a large bipedal predator characterized by its ferocious nature and strong physique. Jarek embodies the territorial instincts of his kind, fiercely guarding his territory against any intruders, whether that be other animals or huntsmen with a death-wish. His raw strength, combined with razor-sharp claws and teeth that easily rend flesh and bone, makes him a fearful opponent in combat.
Jarek’s tail serves multiple purposes beyond its natural function of maintaining balance. It’s an important part of conveying his emotional state through body language, e.g. signaling agitation with a twitching or even thrashing tail, or calmness when it’s relaxed. Moreover, his tail also doubles as a defensive mechanism, allowing him to swiftly react to threats lurking behind him. A single, targeted and powerful swing is often enough for Jarek to render an opponent unconscious.
Thick, cushioned pads in addition to claws on Jarek’s digitigrade feet provide him with additional grip and traction on uneven terrain, such as rocky outcroppings, slippery slopes, and other treacherous landscapes. While he his primarily bipedal, when prowling he will occasionally hunch down on all fours, so that he is ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey from a hiding place, pinning it down with deadly accuracy before delivering a swift and efficient killing blow.

The tip of Jarek’s snout is adorned by a horn, embedded with a gem-like structure known as a “Trii.” As beautiful as it looks, it regularly spells trouble for the Krondir. Healers believe the Trii to hold special properties beneficial for their medicine, making it a prized ingredient they reward handsomely for. Hunters brave (or foolish) enough to hunt beasts as deadly as Krondir have yet to claim Jarek’s Trii, most who tried having met with an untimely demise.
Jarek’s ears are long and flexible, allowing him to pinpoint the faintest sounds from any direction. This way, he can make out prey from a distance or anticipate approaching foes long before they strike. Just like with his tail, Jarek’s ears play an important part in how he conveys emotions with body language.
In the dark, Jarek becomes an even deadlier foe. Where others are blind, he’s still able to see, as his eyes are attuned for low-light situations. Setting up camp for the night, unbeknownst they encroached on Jarek’s domain, would be many travelers’ and hunters’ ultimate undoing.
